THE BONDAGE OF THE WILL

THE BONDAGE OF THE WILL

The stallion

The powerful majestic

Beast

Broken by rider

As one they are free

The Word

Confessions and creeds are woven into

The saddle

Thus

Resting on truth

From the saddle of knowing

The reins

Pulled by me

This the illusion believes

Yes I am free

Bit and bridle

Reins and rider

The beast

A slave to the will of

Rider

Beast of  burden

Or majestic stallion

The Illusion is me

The sacraments thus, are more than just forgiveness

For sins conceieved

But a process of dying to the self

Deceived

Mankind in his arrogance believes he is the rider – Martin Luther gives us an offensive truth – we are the beast and Satan the rider. We can’t accept that – it may be the heathen unbeliever…. But certainly not me.

The tendancy of humankind is to judge the other from the reference point of me. How close does the other resemble the truth that I believe. The truth that I believe can be seen as “Satan” not because it is necessarilly wrong, but because it is a deception.

Being born again is returning to that point deep in our phsyche – before the constructions of self and the clothing of our world views were donned – a constant road of undressing, returning to that place of Eden. Our identity not in a world view but in communion with the Christ.
